Introduction .News
The evidence of climate change is becoming ever clearer: In Bolivia, the melting glaciers of the Andes are creating serious water supply issues in the cities of the Altiplano, meanwhile droughts across the country continue to deteriorate land productivity and forest fires threaten livelihoods in the Beni region. These are just some of the effects of climate change, caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activities.
In this context, private companies are acquiring a new sense of responsibility and commitment in the fight against climate change. This responsibility can be perceived as an opportunity, given that the demonstration of a company’s commitment to the environment offers a point of differentiation from the competition. Going “carbon neutral” is a widely applied way of showing this commitment.
